Professor Beard started her career as a fashion designer prior to moving to the field of technical design. In this video she discusses the intricate process of T.D., the liaison department from the fashion designer to the overseas pattern maker. From the initial vision of the fashion designer to the numerous fittings to the final steps of proper button and hanger loop placement needed before acceptance of the final product shipment to the customer, your eyes will be opened to this discipline in Fashion.

Professor Beard goes on to discuss the different ways in which social media is utilized by her students for job search, industry updates, and peer communication on Facebook and platforms such as TecnicalDesign.org.

Finally a student will understand the path they can anticipate once they graduate FIT and begin their career in this very lucrative field.
